#33: #Ubuntu: "I am because We are"

Ubuntu: “I am because We are “ I am because WE are, this is Ubuntu (African Philosophy), meaning Humanity . It's often translated as “ humanity towards others ”. In the current situation, this is the need of the hour. We all are and should try to help and support in whatever way or form we can. Even if it is physically helping people out by supporting them, listening to people woes and grief by taking time out, financially helping or emotionally helping, all is worth enough and it means a lot. Most IT professional know ubuntu as Open Source Linux platform. The idea of open source comes from Ubuntu, meaning sharing. Ubuntu is a belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity. There is an African story, where a person visits a remote village in Africa with 100 sweets. He saw a lot of children were playing around and he wanted to give sweets to them. He called a group and said to them, I will give these 100 sweets to a person who will win the race. He pointe...

#25: #Mowgli – Baheera - Bhaloo (Earning your Victories )

Mentoring  Mowgli – Baheera- Bhaloo (Earning your   Victories )   Lao Tzu said, "When the Student is ready teacher will appear and when Student is really ready teacher will disappear ".                 In our childhood and even now, we enjoy kids' movies and serials,   one the popular one was   Jungle book. Apart from protagonist   Mowgli, there were two more prominent characters Bagheera the Black Panther and Bhaloo . Bhaghira saved Mowgli from the clutches of The Sher Khan, and he was part of Mowglis' adventurous journey. Bagheera kept him away from the ferocities of animals in the jungle; he showed Mowgli how to face and adapt in the jungle where everything was alien to him . At the same time, Bhaloo was another mentor who was enabling him to take decisions. He showed him how to include love and care in making decisions . Both Bhagira and Bhaloo played a vital mentor rol...

#19 : From Vivad towards Samvaad (Ways for Better conversations )

From Vivad towards Samvaad (Ways for Better conversations ) 1.      We are not listening to each other. As Steven Covey said, we need to listen to understand.   We don't have a balance between talking and listening. Some people prefer one or other, which causes an imbalance in two people conversation. Don't listen to reply, listen to Understand and later discuss. 2.      We now prefer more texting than conversations and face to face interactions. Human interaction missing or avoided nowadays. 3.      We should NOT multitask while having a conversation with anyone. Be present in the situation and focus. 4.      Listen without any judgement, listen to understand as said in 1 st point. As soon as we start listening, we judge based on our unconscious biases. 5.      Avoid argument, have Discussion two way. Move from Vivaad to ( argument ) to Samvaad (Discussion). In D...

#11 : Parrot and Couple

Image
" Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply. " Stephen R. Covey. Seek not to be understood, but to understand. "When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen, you may learn something new ".             I want to emphasize this through the small story. There   was a parrot in the house of a couple, who were very religious and use to daily visit temple and attend the discourses of the Gurus. They were very regular in going and listening to them asking and getting their quires resolved. One day Parrot asked them if they would do them a favor and ask a question for him. The couple obliged and asked him what question he wanted to check with Guruji?   He replied if they can ask him "when he will be released from Cage? "             The couple asked the same question to Guru, but...
