#51 : #Self Realization
Self-Discovery
Have you
ever been in self-Realisation or discovery mode? I think as age progresses, it automatically
comes to you when you sometimes take a pause and think, introspect. And the
same happened to me around a year ago.
Mind is like Parachute; it needs to be open
to work. This is
what exactly meditation is. Reflect upon your negative thoughts and reframe
them into positive thoughts.
I will bring
up a recent use case that has taught me many things. A year ago, there was a
surge of attrition in my team. (I will not go into WHY?), will focus on what
elements it has taught me during that course.
I thought
all was within my Control, OR I would say I was controlling things, but indeed
that was not there. I was trying to control everything and failing and then
blaming myself. A sudden surge of Self-Doubt occurred to me. Is it because of
me? Whether I can handle the situation? And in this scenario, I tried to be
judgemental. I started thinking I did so much for them, and they are leaving me
…
The
situation was tuff and real. Things were changing rapidly, and expectation from
me as a leader was growing. All eyes were onto me how I would handle the
situation. Remember, Leadership is a lonely sport; you can’t discuss much with
anyone.
Well, I took
a pause, thought, and introspected what all things I needed to work upon.
1.
Trying to control things, Self-doubt
2.
Handling sudden change
3.
Attachment and expectation.
Let me tell you
what all I did
We all have
heard through WhatsApp university about Attachment. This incident thought me,
Gita, in one go. We must aim towards “Detached Attachment. “Now, what’s this.
It is like Kite tied with thread; Kite is attached with thread. You are flying
a kite, and it gets cut; you are only left with thread, and someone else gets Kite.
You attach a new Kite, and someone might have attached a thread to Kite. So,
this is detached Attachment, and you are attached with someone if they are with
you; once they are detached, you also are detached. This is easy said than
done. Again, we must practice.
Regarding
other things, I will bucketize them under “Handling the change “or How to
handle change. I learned that I have told in my team and will tell you all. And
believe me, apply this formula you will be in peace and happiness. And the
formula is ACR or CAR.
A= Accept
the Change
C= Change
the changeable
R = Remove
Yourself from unchangeable
You must go
in this order, 1st accept the change, I needed to accept that
someone has resigned, and they will go, and I have to move in a team without
them. Again, this isn't easy, but you cannot proceed further without this
acceptance.
Once you
accept the fact, see what all you can do to change the situation. If you can
change/retain the employee try it, make all your efforts if things are
changeable.
But if they
are not, remove yourself from unchangeable. Let it GO, and no one is
indispensable, hire new employees as backfills. Yes, you will be uncomfortable
for some time, but that’s the opportunity. I told the team; you need to see
“what’s the opportunity here?? “You need to see who all can step in and grab
roles what they were doing. Sometimes you are working in the shadows of heroes,
and this is time you step and show your capability and ability.
