Discovery

During a visit to the NASA space centre in 1962, President John F. Kennedy noticed a janitor carrying a broom. He interrupted his tour, walked over to the man, and said, "Hi, I'm John Kennedy. What are you doing?"

"Well, Mr. President," the janitor responded, "I'm helping put a man on the moon."

To most people, this janitor was cleaning the building. But he was helping to make history. This is the power of a leader who provides purpose to all the people around them; He radiates the mission/vision to people around them.

The most misused and overused word in our corporate industry is Leader. People casually use the Leader and Manager interchangeably. But there is a   difference, although both have their importance and needs.

As a Manager, you are nominated or appointed by the corporate or Authority for some task or assignment; he gets Authority by title bestowed upon him. But the Leader builds that. So, who is a leader? This question we have heard and answered several times, the definition I like most is that “A leader is a person wherein if you enter his or her room and you come out Empowered, Motivated and charged up. “He is a multiplier and an enabler.

Although Leadership is a lonely sport, When you are at the top, you are alone, where you are alone driving and steering a group of people or teams. But he is the one who enables / Motivates you to make your promise into a commitment. You may ask, What is the difference between promise and Commitment?? The promise is what you make to others, and Commitment is what you make to yourself. Remember “ Ek baar maine commitment kar di to main apni bhi  nahin sunta “  If I commit to something, I don’t listen to myself also .

Leaders can act as Multipliers and Diminishers. Are you Multiplier? Do people around you feel safe, energized, or Motivated?   OR Are you a  Diminishers  who withdraw energy, they usually are directives, Micromanagers

You are not appointed as a leader; you become one during the journey. Discover your leadership style to see where you excel and what aspects you need to work on.
