#45 : #Living 1000s Life

 

Living 1000 lives

 Imagine you are accompanying one of the great visionaries of contemporary era ELON MUSK, from his childhood and witnessing how he used to get bullied in his student life. And later how he got transformed by acquiring X.com and PayPal.

 And how He made Electric Cars / Driverless Cars a reality via his Tesla venture, and how he envisioned a colony on Mars by 2040 via his SpaceX Venture.

Exciting, Isn’t it??

 This is ONLY possible via reading.   As George R Martin Said, Reader lives 1000 lives before he dies, while the person who never reads just lives single life.   

There is something about the process of going through 200 pages book in terms of depth of insight it gives. Reading is nothing but having a conversation with Authors.   As I like autobiographies and biographies, I keep meeting these great people. I am with them in their struggles, their victories as I go through their books.

 

            Recently I was with another great Visionary, who himself is a Metaphor, Apple’s Steve Jobs, with his book, “The Man who thought differently. “

 

I want to share one such incidence of his greatness once he was in his factory and his colleagues, beholding meticulously designed 1^st iMac.  

Seeing the artwork, he asked them to make an iMac inside and outside with the same finishing. His team asked why? No One will see from inside.

 

Then he narrated his own story; once Steve’s father asked him to paint the fence of their house, he finished painting and told his father that he completed the same.

When his father came and saw the work, he found that he had only painted the front side (outside) and didn’t paint inside. He asked him why he didn’t paint inside?  he explained No one would see from inside. His father said, “SON, We will. “

Now Years later same he said to his employees that “We will “see from inside.  That is the passion, involvement, and pride Steve used to have for his work which led him to greatness.

 

Encountering great people with their great journeys is all possible via Reading books; I could meet Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Pepsi CEO Indira Nooyi, Microsoft Satya Nadela, Google ‘s CEO Sundar Pichai, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the list goes on.

 

   Reading collapses Timelines, as you get 10-20yrs of hard work and roller coaster experiences of their lives in just   5-10 hrs of reading.

 Reading Sustains HOPE.  It makes us stronger by inculcating the experiences and wisdom of all great personalities to face the challenges of life.

So, if we want to live 1000 life’s, we need to start reading as:

-        Reading is a conversation with the author

-        Reading is collapsing of timelines

-        Reading is sustaining of hope
