#41: Memories
Memories
Memories
are the Mental impressions that we leave in our minds as we grow and days pass by.
We always say OLD is GOLD, and it is so true we have so many golden memories
with us.
Our
brain is so strong that it records everything from our childhood and creates
folders later to be accessed, called Memories. Whenever we get any occasions,
we should create memories to be relished in future. It's not living in the past;
it's just reliving those cherished moments. Nowadays, we click photos and have them
on our phones ( I don’t know if people revisit them, but they feel they have
captured them ). Best memories are captured in your mind; enjoy the moment when
it comes instead of just clicking photos.
Few
of my earliest memories.
1.
One of my
earliest memories is, which my parents confirm, from the age of 4-5 yrs. I got
some scolding from my parents, and I was so angry that I left the house and
went to the garden nearby. The neighborhood got tense.
2.
I remember
the love /hate /fight relationship with my younger brother. The playing
together of video games like Mario brothers, watching VCRs 24x7as we use to hire them.
3.
Reading Indrajal
comics, Champak, Chadamama, Amr Chitra Katha. They used to get delivered by
NewsPaper delivery boy.
4.
During the summer
holidays, those story-telling sessions with my Grandma and my Aunt (mosi) were
the main attraction. All Ramayana / Mahabharata Stories I listened through them
before Ramanand Sagar came with Ramayana . These sessions created a Strong Bond
between all of my cousins till now.
5.
Visiting
Grandparents, meeting cousins, celebrating all festivals together. We celebrated
Diwali with my uncles and grandparents; all cousins used to come together from
different places in the country and abroad; this tradition is continuing (though
with some absentees ). Earlier, as all used to be around, it was 100% attendance.
6.
Time spent
during our school days. A few years ago, we had 25 yrs. of School Reunion; it
was such a great time remembering good OLD days, with teachers, school building,
and that Canteen wala. Met favorite teachers and sought their blessings again.
7.
Similarly had
a reunion for my Engineering college. Few
of them were already connected; meeting all batches was a great experience,
relishing the old days, talking about professors, campus, Sessional markings,
Vivas, outings, picnics, Annual days, Campuses, etc.
8.
I have great
friends n family and regularly try to make /create an opportunity to meet them
whenever possible, mini-reunions. As this is how
you can put Life into years, Live NOW. You never know tomorrow.
It's a great reminisce about good memories of the past.
It was enjoyable when it was today. So, learning to enjoy today has two benefits, it gives me
happiness right now, and it becomes a good memory later. Take care of your memories,
for you cannot relive them.
