#35 : Don't Quit

Don’t Quit

He was six years old when his father died. Dropped out of his class in 7th grade he struggled in his initial growing years. Worked in railways as labour and later also studied Law but there also he didn’t succeed. Further, he tried selling Life Insurances and was fired due to insubordination. Went to the ferry boat business again no luck. Until the age of 40, he started selling chicken in Service stations. Sanders opened his first restaurant inside a gas station. Sanders served in the military but was an honorary colonel.

He struggled there for 4 years; his restaurant was burned during World War. His recipe was rejected 1009 times before anyone accepted it.

Sanders Secret recipe was coined as “Kentucky Fried Chicken -KFC“Which quickly became a hit. In 1952, Sanders franchised his secret recipe "Kentucky Fried Chicken" for the first time at age of 62. After years of failure & misfortunes, Sanders finally hit it big. He pursued and tried and tried till he got success.  The first age is no bar, if you keep trying you will get success at a later age as well, we have several other examples.  We have seen people get dejected in their lives with initial failures and quit. They don’t pursue things.

Perseverance and patience pay. You need to have GRIT to have success, in this skill doesn’t have corelation according to Angela Duckworth. Struggle is in everyone’s life in various shapes and forms, how we tackle it and go pass it with GRIT determines your success .
