LIFE IS A CHOICE

It was a Quite room with dim lights, rhythmic Beep, bip, bip sound from the monitors was making the atmosphere perturbed. Various tubes were coming out of patient’s body in ICU, making way to monitors for analysis of vital statistics.  A nurse Named Bronnie Ware was sitting near the patients  and  trying to question from her terminally ill patients about

1.     If any regrets they had or

2.      anything they would do differently,

and Surprisingly, common themes surfaced again and again.  She researched this for eight years, Which  turned into best Seller.

We have seen when our kids are in  teenage  they try making choices for their career .   Even if they wanted to pursue  profession bit unconventional like being  poet, writer, painter, drama artist , fitness expert .  BUT somehow, they bury their dreams due to society pressure and pursue what they don’t like , and choose conventional streams . And this  was the most common regret of all.

I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.  So its our Choices , what we decide .  it’s never too late.  Please pursue your dreams.

On a Sunday morning, when everyone was lazing around, one of my friends was engrossed in his office work.  His little daughter came to him and asked Dad, “Can you lend me Rs 5000”. He got puzzled as and asked her why she needed such a big amount?  She politely replied, “Dad, I want to buy your time/day for me so that you can be with me for a whole day and spend time with me “.

And this was the second Regret; I wish I didn’t work so Hard. It came from every patient, who was working. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship.   By simplifying   lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to get time for self.

Sometimes due to family or Society pressures or to keep peace with others, People doesn’t express.  As a result, they settle for mediocrity.  And this was 3rd Regret; I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.  And  it is known fact that to maintain relationships we need expression not suppression of feelings .

And this not only feeling of LOVE, but it applies to your Spouses, children, friends, peers. And this includes gratitude, if you feel good about someone, please write or tell them how much you love them OR how much you are grateful.

Most of us caught so much in our lives that we let our golden friendship slip over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved.  And this is the fourth Regret I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.  At least for me, this is one of the most important parts of life it’s evident from the pic.  So, whoever you are thinking of now, please take time out   To talk to them TODAY during the day!!!

The fifth regret is surprisingly the common one   I wish that I had let myself be happier.  And many of us don’t realise until the end that happiness is a choice.  How wonderful it be that we let go of things and smile again .

Life is a choice.  And It is YOUR life. It includes you as well , Whole life most of patients Lived for others  , So

Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly AND

Choose Life , Choose Love , Choose Health   AND Choose Happiness. As said by Nelson Mandela, “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears “.
