#21 : What is your Default Setting ??

What is Your Default Setting?

Humm ...  All of you are thinking … What I am asking?  Am I a phone? or computer to have any default setting? Or a browser? BTW Which browser you all use IE / Firefox or Chrome, if you are still using IE chances are that your default settings are fixed, and you have accepted what is been offered to you. People who are using something else, basically doubted/Challenged the default and looked for better & new options.

Yes, we all have our default settings and unconsciously we behave / give Opinions /make decisions accordingly.

Sometime ago, I was at home, it was a Friday evening, outside my apartment, Stage was setup for nail-biting India Pakistan match, Anxiety was at its peak with Butterflies in the stomach.

India was batting and excitement all around, Kohli was in form and what is this!!! Can’t believe, complete silence all around as grave.  He was given LBW out by Umpire, we all   started giving reasons why he was not OUT.

2nd half, when Pakistan started batting, similarly one Pakistani batsman got out   we immediately started celebrating and assumed he is definitely OUT.

We are so much driven by our motivated reasoning, our default settings; We also make our decisions /choices unconsciously based on same and this can be sometimes dangerous too as blur our ability to think and decide what is right.

Have you ever witnessed the situation where in you asked your colleague or family member some help and immediately, and you saw a BIG NO on their face? If you try, everything and anything is possible.

Have you  heard about Arunima Sinha??

She was a national level volleyball player who was pushed from a running train by thieves in 2011 while she was resisting them. As a result, one of her legs had to be amputated below the knee.

While she was getting treated in AIIMS, she was inspired by cricketer Yuvraj Singh  , who had successfully battled cancer. And their she decided to get her name the fame.  And she went ahead and became 1st female amputee to climb Mount Everest.

So, if we don’t want   to be typed or defaulted, we need to keep adjusting our settings. And to do that we need to train or re wire our brains, and make ourselves self -Aware, so that we can make our “I CAN” setting greater than “I CAN’T”.
