#31 : #Focus on What you have

Image
Focus on What you have Focus on What you have, not what you don’t have. I want to illustrate this with a story. Karoly Takacs was the 1 st Shooter to win Two Olympic gold Medals in the Rapid-fire pistol Event. He was an army man and always wanted to participate in Olympics, he was denied in the 1936 Summer Olympics as he was a Sergeant and only commissioned officers only could compete. Later this prohibition was lifted and was scheduled to participate in the 1940 Tokyo Summer Olympic game. Everyone vouched that he would bring the medal to the country. Unfortunately, during Army training in 1938, his right hand was badly injured with a faulty grenade exploded on his arm. Takacs spent a month in the hospital, devastated not just for the loss of his right hand but also the opportunity to win Gold at the highest level of the sport. But he was determined to compete it, he started to practice with his left hand and in a year, he won the 1939 National event and was on the way to...

#30: #Soildiers and Scouts

Soldiers and Scouts              Couple of months ago I was  interacting with few kids at my apartment , when they  came home after giving their exams, I asked them how was their exams? One told Uncle , not so good we got lot of stuff out of syllabus, which was not thought in school, why can’t they just give what is in syllabus?          Other student on the other hand said, I also got things out of Syllabus, but I referred reference books which I got , I explored other books, so I could answer the questions. So, my paper was good. If you analyse two approaches, one person wants exactly what is thought, haven’t explored anything extra, and doesn’t want also, while another one was exploring things outside his boundaries, he was not confined to what is offered to him, and he doesn’t mind exploring other stuff.                Phycologists term these as two...

LIFE IS A CHOICE  It was a Quite room with dim lights, rhythmic Beep, bip, bip sound from the monitors was making the atmosphere perturbed. Various tubes were coming out of patient’s body in ICU, making way to monitors for analysis of vital statistics.   A nurse Named Bronnie Ware was sitting near the patients   and   trying to question from her terminally ill patients about 1.       If any regrets they had or 2.        anything they would do differently , and Surprisingly, common themes surfaced again and again.   She researched this for eight years , Which  turned into best Seller.                We have seen when our kids are in   teenage   they try making choices for their career .     Even if they wanted to pursue   profession bit unconventional like being   poet, writer, painter, drama artist , fitne...

#28 #Beta all will be Well

Image
Beta, all will be Well     Chinmay, “wake up”, “wake up” it’s already 9 O’clock, I could hear his Mom in her loud voice.   Chinmay, my Son, who was sleeping like a log, without seeing her, fluttered his blanket and covered his face and sleep more comfortably knowing that if Mom is saying nine means, it would somewhere around 8 or 830, and this is his 1 st wakeup call.   And this was a scene in our house for 2-3 months after the XIIth Board Exams, when my son was waiting for his results and college admissions.( 3years ago 2017-18)  Anxiety and Anxiousness were at its peak.   We were feeling like we are strapped in a chair, sitting in front of an open door. But we knew the situation, so we use to HUG him and say “Beta, all will be well “- Believe in Yourself. “                One day he shouted with excitement from his room, “Papa ”, “Mom”!!! , we rushed to his room , and our h...

"Potter Behind the Pot "   Good Morning Madam, all the Class Five students greeted   Mrs Thompson as she entered the class. Very Lovely morning to you all, She greeted them back. Although she gave a lovely morning wish, Teddy was one student she didn't like, as he was notorious , Shabby, not sincere and used to distract in her class. Good Afternoon fellow Toastmasters and Dear Guests   Teddy   doesn't use to concentrate or listen in class. Soon   Midterm exams happened, Mrs Thompson prepared a progress report of her class. While reviewing the reports, Headmistress commented I don't see any progress in Teddy's report, as Mrs Thompson specifically wrote all negative comments about him.   Headmistress wanted to know how this boy was in his previous classes, so she requested his previous year's report cards.                When she opened his file, there was a surprise for her....

#25: #Mowgli – Baheera - Bhaloo (Earning your Victories )

Image
Mentoring  Mowgli – Baheera- Bhaloo (Earning your   Victories )   Lao Tzu said, "When the Student is ready teacher will appear and when Student is really ready teacher will disappear ".                 In our childhood and even now, we enjoy kids' movies and serials,   one the popular one was   Jungle book. Apart from protagonist   Mowgli, there were two more prominent characters Bagheera the Black Panther and Bhaloo . Bhaghira saved Mowgli from the clutches of The Sher Khan, and he was part of Mowglis' adventurous journey. Bagheera kept him away from the ferocities of animals in the jungle; he showed Mowgli how to face and adapt in the jungle where everything was alien to him . At the same time, Bhaloo was another mentor who was enabling him to take decisions. He showed him how to include love and care in making decisions . Both Bhagira and Bhaloo played a vital mentor rol...
